Kumasi, Jan. 13, GNA - The council of Zongo Chiefs in the Ashanti region has congratulated Professor John Evans Atta Mills on his election as the president of Ghana.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday in Kumasi, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim, president of the council said, Prof. Mills' election marked another milestone in the annals of Ghana's democratic dispensation. He expressed the hope that President Mills would live up to expectation by delivering on his campaign promises to advance the country's socio-economic development progress. Alhaji Ibrahim noted that most Zongo communities were deprived and asked the new government to invest in such areas by building the human resource capacity of people.
This, he said would help people to contribute effectively to the nation's development while curbing malpractices, violence and intra-ethnic conflicts. 13 Jan. 09
