A General Secretary Aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abdul Ishaq Farrakhan has bemoaned what he says, is the impression among members of the party that the NDC won the 2012 elections as a result of some special efforts and skills of its incumbent General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

According to him, such impression is unfair to the large number of other party members who worked hard to retain the party in power in the last elections.

Farrakhan, who is challenging Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito for the general secretary slot said he will cause a “major upset” in the party’s upcoming national executive election scheduled for Saturday in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

He told Accra-based Asempa FM, Thursday, that members of the ruling party must acknowledge that the 2012 election was won on the basis of the hard work done by members and not by any special efforts of certain individuals.

“Asiedu Nketia didn’t win the 2012 (elections) alone. It was as a result of the hard work of all party members,” he stated.
