Aspiring assemblyman pledges to develop his area

Kumasi, Sept 12, GNA - Mr Baba Jamel Omar-Eeps, aspiring assemblyman for the Santan electoral area at Tafo in the Kumasi metropolis, has pledged to mobilize both financial and material resources towards the development of the area. He has therefore appealed to the people to vote for him in the upcoming district assembly elections to enable him assist in the development of the area.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Monday, Mr Omar-Eeps gave the assurance that he would offer good leadership to improve the living conditions of the people. He said everything possible would be done to improve education in the area by ensuring that children of school-going age especially the girl-child attend schools.

Mr Omar-Eeps, who is the secretary of the Tafo Town Council, also said he would organize periodic quiz competitions for both pupils and students in basic and second cycle schools to motivate them to learn harder.

He said he would also liaise with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) at all times to ensure that refuse dumps were cleared. Mr Omar-Eeps promised to mobilise the people periodically to undertake clean-up exercises to rid the area of filth. He said efforts would be made also to contact non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and private entrepreneurs to establish businesses in the area to provide employment for the youth. The aspiring assemblyman further said he would form an advisory committee made up of traditional rulers and unit committee members to deliberate on issues concerning the development of the area.
