The Electoral Commission (EC) on Tuesday fixed GH¢500.00 as the filing fee for aspiring parliamentarians for the Kwabre West Constituency by-election slated for Tuesday, August 14.
In a statement to the Ghana News Agency in Accra signed by Mr. Kwadwo Sarfo Kantanka, Deputy Chairman in-Charge of Operations, explained that the aspirants were mandated to provide two recent photographs (bust) with red background during the submission of their nomination forms.
The Commission would receive nominations from Tuesday, July 12 to Wednesday July 13, at the Kwabre District Office of the Commission at Kodie, between 0800 hours and 1500 hours.
It said the forms could be obtained from the Kwabre District Office of the Commission at Kodie or at the Ashanti Regional Office of the Commission in Kumasi.
The by-election was necessitated by the death of Mr. Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Member of Parliament for Kwabre West Constituency.
The statement said, in accordance with Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution as amended by Section 3 of Act 527, the EC is mandated to hold a by-election when notified of a vacancy in Parliament.**
