Assembly completes 10 projects through PPP

The Asante-Akim Central Municipality has through public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement, successfully completed 10 projects, which the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Alhaji Braimah Boyong, said had brought enormous benefits to the people.

These involved the construction of a lorry park and market stores to boost the economic activities of the population and washrooms to improve sanitation.

Alhaji Boyong, who was addressing an ordinary meeting of the municipal assembly at Odumase said it had been a win-win for the parties – the assembly and the private investors.

He pledged to continue to strengthen the engagement and partnership with the private sector to fund more development projects across the area and make things better for everybody.

He said his expectation was that the members would give strong backing to the innovative development funding approach to transform the socio-economic conditions in the various communities.

He announced plans to construct water-closet toilets at Dwease, Patriensa, Praaso, Agyareago and Obenimase and said these would be done by bringing in private companies.

Alhaji Boyong spoke of his determination to promote transparency in the financial management of the assembly to make sure that the people become the real beneficiary of the area’s resources.

He also underlined the need for all to work together to scale up revenue mobilization, pointing out that its ability to bring progress would be dependent on the strength of its finances.

He saluted the immediate past assembly for the hard work and diligence that qualified the municipality for support from the district development fund (DDF) for two years running.

Mr. Robert Yaw Kwakye, the Presiding Member, counseled the members to overcome political division and work as a team to develop the municipality.
