Assemblyman retains seat for 12 years running

Nsawam (E/R), Jan. 13, GNA - Mr William Neequaye,

incumbent assembly member for Sabon Zongo Amoakrom

Electoral Area in the Akuapem South Municipality of the Eastern

Region, has retained his seat in the just-ended District Assembly

election. Mr Neequaye, who has been an assemblyman for 12 years,

won by 442 as against 265 by Mr Yakubu Abudul and 196 votes

by Mr Nicholas Mensah, the two other contenders for the seat. In a post-election interview with the Ghana News Agency at

Nsawam, Mr Neequaye expressed gratitude to the electorate who

voted for him to retain the seat and urged his colleague contestants

not to be disappointed but rather come to his support in the effort

to develop the area. The Assemblyman-elect mentioned a 20-seater KVIP toilet at

Sabon Zongo and boreholes at Yawkrom as some of the projects

he would undertake in the area.
