Kwabeng (E/R), April 25, GNA- The Atiwa District Assembly has confirm Mr Atta Twum, a 59 year old human resource management consultant as the President's nominee for the post of District Chief Executive(DCE) for Atiwa at its special meeting at Kwabeng on Friday. All the 36 assembly members present voted for him. Addressing the Assembly after the confirmation, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo advised Mr. Twum to be humble and submissive and co-operate with the assembly members and other stakeholders in the district to enhance development of the area. He also urged him to ensure justice and crosscheck all facts before reacting to them.
Mr Ampofo advised the new DCE to involve all traditional authorities in the development of the district since they are the custodians of the land. He commended the assembly members for the manner they voted for Mr Atta Twum and urged them to co-operate with him to ensure speedy development of the district. Mr Atta Twum in his acceptance speech, thanked all the assembly members for giving him the opportunity to lead the assembly and assured them that he would co-operate with all stakeholders in the district. At Akropon-Akuapem on the same day, the Akuapem North District Assembly confirmed a 30-year-old businessman, Mr George Opare Addo as the District Chief Executive.
All the 61 assembly members were present and 7 members voted against the nominee, while whiles 54 voted in his favour. Mr Ampofo advised the DCE to be humble to all the assembly members to enhance development in the district. The Member of Parliament for Okere, Mr Dan Botwe assured the DCE that he would work hand in hand with him to ensure that the area gets its fair share of the national cake The DCE thanked the assembly members for their massive support and assured them that he would co-operate with all stakeholders to develop the district. 25 April, 2009
