An opinion poll conducted by the Graphic online has put former Vice President Atta-Mills ahead of his main opponent Prez. J. A Kufuor of the NPP.
But having turned the opinion poll into a propaganda tool, the editor of the State owned newspaper, Yaw Boadu Ayeboafoh, has refused to use the story.
The poll, which started barely about a month ago, saw eligible voters being asked whether they wanted to vote for Prof. Mills or Kufuor. While 64% said they wanted Mills, 32% said they wanted Kufuor while the rest 4% said they wanted neither of the two.
Realizing that publishing the story will dent President Kufuor's propaganda machinery that his victory is a foregone conclusion to enable the party rig the editions, the paper refused to publish the story. Instead, it conducted another poll and changed the format of the questions.
This time around Atta-Mills name did not reflect in the questions at all and instead the question being asked voters was, "should President Kufuor be given a second term?"
Interestingly, Kufuor lost out once again. The results of the poll as at last week was as follows:
Yes------- 36%
No-------- 61%
Not Kufuor --------- 0.74%
but the NPP
Aware of the fact that these results would be bad publicity for Kufuor, the editor is alleged to have asked the NPP to get its supporters to vote to enable the percentage of Kufuor shoot up.
As at last Tuesday, the percentage to the same question (should Kufuor be given a second term) had changed but with Kufuor still being black listed by the voters. The results as at last Tuesday (Nov.16) were as follows:
Yes :40.66%
No : 58.57%
Not Kufuor : 0.77%
but the NPP
It is apparent that Prof. Atta-Mills is coasting to victory and Kufuor trailing behind him in the dark.Meanwhile, with the connivance of editors of some private newspapers in the country, including of course Mr. Yaw Boadu Ayeboafoh of the DAILY GRAPHIC indications are that the will of Ghanaians would be subverted.
