Awutu-Bawjiase, (C/R), Jan. 15, GNA - Mr Justice Quaye, Head of Audit Department of the Bawjiase Area Rural Bank, has declared his intention to contest the Awutu-Senya Constituency Parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) scheduled for March this year. Mr Quaye said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency that when given the nod as a candidate and elected as Member of Parliament, his top priority would be education. He said as a first step, he had established an Educational Trust Fund for brilliant but needy students and pupils in the constituency to further their education. Mr Quaye said most of the children in Awutu-Senya could not pursue further education due to the poor backgrounds of their parents hence the need for the fund to assist them. The aspiring MP said the fund would also cater for those who would opt to learn a trade, adding that after their apprenticeship periods they would be supported to establish their shops. According to Mr Quaye, over 500 students in the area had benefited from the fund, adding that plans were also far advanced to source more funds to help more brilliant students. He said another fund has been created to support women who operated small- scale enterprises and businesses to empower them financially to cater for their children's education.
