Awuku redeems pledge to youth organisers

The National Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, has charged the youth wing of the party to spearhead the ‘Agenda For Change’ campaign in order to help the party win power in the upcoming elections.

The NPP youth leader says the youth wing must focus solely on mobilising support at the grassroots, and ensure that lots more Ghanaians are aware of the policies and programmes of the NPP, in order to enhance victory in December 2016.

Sammy Awuku, who gave the advice when he presented sets of jerseys and footballs, as well as party stickers, to all the 47 youth organisers and their deputies in the Ashanti Region last Friday, said under no circumstance should any youth leader allow himself to be used by an aspirant or a candidate for his or her parochial interest at the expense of the party.

According to him, victory for 2016 is non-negotiable, stressing that the NPP ought to win power so that Ghanaians can be salvaged from years of deprivation and disenchantment.

The presentation, worth several thousands of Ghana cedis, forms part of a campaign promise made to the youth wing last year to provide the needed resources that would help them in their operations.

According to the NPP youth leader, the donation is expected to set the tone for a series of strategies, expected to be undertaken by the party, as part of mobilisation programmes to increase the support base of the party at the grassroots.

The various youth wing organisers are, therefore, expected to organise youth games in their respective constituencies to draw the attention of voters to the policies and programmes of the NPP. Sammy Awuku said he was very hopeful that the football games would serve as the necessary organisation tool that would help bring the party together at the grassroots level.

BRIGHT FUTURE

The National Youth Organiser has, meanwhile, expressed optimism that the chances of the party are bright, despite recent confusion that engulfed the party following the death of its Upper East Regional Chairman, Alhaji Mahama Adams.

According to him, the reputation of the NPP, as a credible alternative to the incompetent NDC administration, was firmly intact, and that Ghanaians will be ready to hand the destiny of the country into the care of the NPP.

He told The Chronicle later in an interview that what happened recently, though not positive development, the party has been able to mend the cracks, stressing that the NPP is now one big family, and ready to assume the mantle of leadership.

The NPP youth leader, therefore, asked Ghanaians to continue to repose confidence in the NPP, since it is the only party with the requisite policies and programmes to salvage this country from the socio-economic hardships.
