Awutu Beraku (C/R) Jan 23, GNA-Assembly Members of the Awutu-Senya District Assembly in the Central Region have appealed to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Electoral Commission to create more electoral areas in Kasoa to facilitate its development. According to them, Kasoa with a population of about 60,000, has few huge electoral areas which were difficult for assemblymen to transverse and coordinate.

They made the appeal at a meeting organised by the Member of Parliament of the area, Mr. David Nana Labie, at his residence at Awutu Beraku, to deliberate on issues affecting their work and plan for the rest of the year. They hoped that their wishes would be met to ensure that more electoral areas were created before the District Assembly Elections took place sometime this year.

The Assembly Members called for unity and peace in the District because "no development can take place in areas without peace and harmony." Mr. Nuhun Adams, District Chief Executive for the Area, commended the Assembly members for their meaningful contributions during Assembly sittings and called on them to continue to cooperate with the administration in its task of developing the district. He disclosed that the Awutu Traditional Council has released 5 plots of land for the construction of a permanent office block for District Assembly. 23 Jan. 10
