Awutu-Senya, Aug 30, GNA - Alhaji Baaba Lamin Abu Sadat, a former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Awutu-Senya Constituency, has been elected the Party's Parliamentary Candidate to contest Election 2004.
He polled 139 votes to beat Mr Moses Acquah, Assemblyman for Awutu Bereku Electoral Area, who had 117 votes at primaries held at Awutu Bereku.
There was confusion before the election and this delayed proceedings that should have started at 1000 hours but finally got off at 1500 hours.
It took the Central Regional Executives of the Party led By Mr Light Koomson, the Secretary, a hectic time to bring the situation under control for Electoral Commission Officers from Winneba to supervise the election.
Addressing the delegates Mr Koomson said the NDC Party lost the 2000 elections because some supporters voted against their own Party due to imposition of candidates.
"The imposition of candidates created rancour among the rank and file," he said.
Mr Koomson said Ghanaians would vote massively for NDC because NPP had brought hardship to the people. Alhaji Baaba Sadat, who was MP for the area in 1996-2000, expressed appreciation to the delegates and pledged to work hard to win the seat.
