Mr. Seth Gomnah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Chair of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), has stated that the entire Regional Executives of the Party have not been sacked, but were still at post.
He asserted that no five-member constituency executives had sacked them from office, because “it is only the Party’s Regional Delegates Conference that has the mandate to either retain or vote them out within the stipulated constitutional arrangements or schedules of the Party”.
Mr. Gomnah made these remarks in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, in reaction to an online publication of the Daily Guide Newspaper, on Thursday November 19, headlined: “PPP sacked BA Executives.”
He pointed out that there had not been any Delegates Conference that arrived at that decision, and explained that it was five Constituency Chairmen from Wenchi, Berekum East, Jaman North, Nkoranza South and Dormaa Central, who had petitioned “the National Executives that they could not work with us because of reasons best known to them.”
Mr. Gomnah clarified that as those five executives waited for a feedback from the National Executives, “they unexpectedly summoned us to a meeting at the Regional Party Office on Monday, November, 16, 2015, where they mentioned some of their grievances in the petition that ‘We don’t visit them’ and also ‘We don’t respect them,’and therefore refused to pick their calls”.
According to the Regional Chair, those five executives realized at the end of the meeting that they had misunderstood “issues” as well as “the Party’s channels of communication, and therefore apologized for rushing to petition to the National Executives against us”.
Mr. Gomnah stressed that the Daily Guide Newspaper’s online publication was therefore not the true reflection of what transpired at that meeting, and assured members and followers of the PPP and the general public to continue to have confidence in them.
“We are still in office strategizing for PPP victory in the region and the nation in general in elections 2016”, he emphasized.
