Mr Mohammed Ahmed Baba Jamal, Deputy Minister of Tourism, on Wednesday registered in the third phase of the biometric registration exercise at Akwatia and asked his supporters to be tolerant even if they are provoked by their political opponents.

His registration at the Akwatia lorry station and bus terminal attracted quite a number of people.

Mr Baba Jamal immediately after registration told the media that, registration at Akwatia had been smooth and peaceful and expressed the conviction that the December elections in the area would be equally peaceful.

He however alleged that, he had received reports from Akyem Wenchi that a polling agent of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at one of the registration centres had been assaulted when she objected to the eligibility of someone wanting to register.

He also alleged that, all those who were challenged at the various centres at Akyem Wenchi had their voters’ cards released to them, which was contrary to the registration regulations.

Mr Baba Jamal further alleged that, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) brought people from elsewhere to register at Akyem Wenchi.

He gave the assurance that he was for peace and advised his followers to also be peaceful; saying he was hopeful his political opponents would also reciprocate the gesture to avoid the violence that characterized the last polls.

Mr Baba Jamal called on NDC faithfuls to embark on vigorous campaigning to ensure victory in the December general election.**
