Some delegates of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western region have observed that lack of political maturity was responsible for the Party’s 2016 election loss.

They have therefore called on fellow delegates to elect somebody who is politically mature to lead the NDC into the 2020 election.

Speaking at a News conference at the weekend, Mr Frank Somuah Andoh, leading member of the Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira constituency who led a group known as “Delegates for The Restoration of NDC” announced that the flagbearer aspirant with a lot of political maturity for the 2020 ticket was Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

“Mr Bagbin stands taller than all others politically. He has more experience than them. He mentored some in Parliament and we believe that he will not make the mistakes that happened in the past,” Mr Andoh added.

Mr Andoh, flanked by Julius Ankama and Kofi Mensah said NDC lost the election in 2016 because the then President abandoned the vehicle that took him to the Flagstaff House.

Mr Kofi Mensah in his contribution said because the former President was not fully grown in the political echelon, he made some fundamental mistakes that allowed opponents to tag him as corrupt.

“Fellow delegates, what we have on our hands is a legacy of political immaturity that needs a politically more mature person to cure. This is where Mr Bagbin comes in,” Mr. Mensah said.

He pointed said the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament never lost his Nadowli-Kaleo seat because of political maturity.

“Bagbin’s political maturity comes from experience that totally dwarfs other competitors,” he added.

Mr Mensah said, it was because of Bagbin’s superior political maturity that enabled him to predict doom for the Mahama administration before the polls, after trying all in vain to advise him.

He said Mr Bagbin had already attributed the cause of the NDC’s defeat to the neglect of the party and was ready to remedy that mistake.
