THE National Youth Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ludwig Hlodze, is advocating for a ban on political activities in the country after electioneering periods. The ban, according to him, would then be reinstated when it is about a year to another election.
He expressed concern about the excessive politics in the country; a development which he contended had the tendency of impeding the rapid and smooth national development the masses craved for.
Mr Hlodze insisted that after an electioneering year, the entire country ought to come together as one people, put their political affiliations aside and make the development of the country their ultimate goal and desire.
“In some countries, after national elections to elect a president, all political activities are suspended and the entire country then focuses on the developmental aspirations of the country,” he claimed.
According to him, such countries then unite and work to develop their country as one people until it is about a year for fresh polls before political activities are restored.
Mr Ludwig, who was addressing the youth working committee of the NDC in the Ashanti Region in Kumasi as part of his nationwide tour said, “I am suggesting that Ghana should adopt this policy.”
He bemoaned that Ghana’s growth was being impeded by too much politicking in the country, pleading with the political parties to rally behind the reigning government to transform the country.
Mr Ludwig stressed that Ghana would experience a lot of growth if the people dedicated their time and energy to what to do to transform their country, rather than always politicizing key national issues.
The NDC National Youth Organizer had been touring the country recently to thoroughly explain government policies, programmes and achievements to the party’s youth, so that they could in turn educate the masses.
His visit to Kumasi to meet with the party’s youth was graced by top-notch people including Samuel Yaw Adusei, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Kojo Bonsu, Kumasi Mayor and Yaw Obimpeh, the Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman.
Mr Ludwig admitted that there were challenges in the country in 2013 and promised that the President Mahama-led government was on top of the situation, so the deplorable trend would soon change for the better.
The NDC youth leader expressed concern over the high unemployment rate in the country and urged academia to collaborate with industries so that the required students for employment would be produced by the academic institutions.
He admonished the NDC youth and the entire NDC followers to rally behind the government to achieve its manifesto promises in order to better the lives of the populace.
He also charged the party to support people who have been appointed to serve in the NDC government, notably, the youth who have been promoted to higher positions, so that they could deliver.
On his part, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Yaw Adusei, also charged the NDC youth to support government appointees to deliver on its promise to enable the masses to enjoy the government’s Better Ghana Agenda.
He stressed on the need for the NDC youth to respect the party’s structures and also help sustain the party’s unity and peace at all times, reminding them they are one people and should therefore not allow anything to divide them.
