Zebilla (UER), Feb 14, GNA - The MP for Bawku West, Mr. John Kparibo Ndebugre, has called for the support and co-operation of the people of the District for the development of the communities. He called on them to put the rivalry during the elections behind them and to thank God for the peaceful elections.
The MP also expressed his gratitude to the chiefs and people of the area for choosing him to represent them in Parliament.
Mr. Ndebugre who was speaking at the first ordinary session of the District Assembly at Zebilla explained the reason why the PNC, the CPP, and the Independent MPs decided to go along with NPP in Parliament. He pointed out that in Parliament there was no middle seat and one had to be with either the majority or the minority and said in the case of the PNC, "its MPs are the orphans of the late Dr. Hilla Limann" who was overthrown by the Rawlings' regime and therefore could not go along with the NDC in Parliament.
Mr. Ndebugre pledged to maintain close contact with the electorate and to contribute in Parliament to make a difference in their living conditions.
He stressed that he was not in Parliament to cause confusion as being speculated and urged the Assembly Members to call him to order any time he was found wanting.
The MP advised them to work as a team and to seek consensus instead of politicising every issue in the Assembly. The DCE, Mr. Moses Abaare Appiah, thanked the people and the former MP, Mr. Cletus Avoka, for their support and cooperation during his four-year tenure in office.
Mr. Appiah urged Assembly Members, politicians, Chiefs, social workers and the people to bury their differences for the common good of the area and the country.
He urged them to remain united and to rededicate themselves to render selfless services to the people.
