Bawumia Accuses Kufuor, Akufo-Addo Of Robbery

Over Judgment Debt

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has been reported to have said that the payment of judgment debts to individuals and corporate organizations by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is robbery.

By inference and logic, the NPP vice presidential Candidate, is not only accusing former President John Agyekum Kufuor and his regime for perpetuating robbery on the people of Ghana over the payment of dubious judgment debts, but also his own boss (Akufo-Addo), who is on record as the chief lobbyist for institutions like the Great Cape Company of Switzerland - to be paid judgment debt.

Dr. Bawumia seems right to have described ex-President Kufuor as a robber; because, at the time President Atta-Mills was being sworn in, on 7th January 2009, Kufuor and his NPP, were still paying judgment debts to party cronies. The practice continued until the swearing in of the first batch of President Mills’ appointed Ministers on 26th February 2009.

It is also on record that, on 3rd October, 2011, the NPP flagbearer, Mr. Williams Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in a letter copied the office of Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, insisted that the Great Cape Company of Switzerland be paid judgment debt.

One would have accepted that Dr. Bawumia become sober after misleading his boss (Akufo-Addo) to spew out wrong figures as regards his estimated cost for his much-espoused free-SHS education at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) presidential forum, but the NPP economic whiz-kid has decided to stoke more fire with his latest accusation.

We publish below Akufo-Addo’s letter supporting the Great Cape Company claims, and a table to show how excellent the Kufuor government was, with regards to the payment of judgment debts, brilliantly described by Dr. Bawumia as robbery.
