The Chief of Nkwantakese, in the Amenfi West Constituency of the Western Region, Nana Ntori-Bonkyi Akomea, has said that Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, deserves to be entrusted with the leadership of the country in December, having excelled in the role of Vice President over the past seven and a half years, assisting the departing President Akufo-Addo.

Welcoming Dr. Bawumia to Asankragua on Sunday, where he met traditional rulers as part of his campaign tour of the Amenfi West Constituency, Nana Ntori-Bonkyi Akomea described Dr. Bawumia as the best Vice President Ghana has ever had, adding that for such a distinguished feat, Dr. Bawumia deserves to be elevated.

"We have seen many Vice Presidents in this country, but you are unique. You have done so well," Nana Ntori-Bonkyi Akomea told Dr. Bawumia, before using a driver-mate analogy to buttress his call for Bawumia’s elevation to the Presidency.

"There are some mates who, when given opportunities on a Sunday to go and wash the car, drive so recklessly in town that people see them and get alarmed. But as for this mate, he has been a very good mate who drives the car so smoothly whenever he is given an opportunity on a Sunday to go and wash the car. So we are confident he can drive the car very well when we give him the steer," the Chief said.

On behalf of his colleagues, Nana Ntori-Bonkyi Akomea also commended Dr. Bawumia for his vision to restore some powers to traditional authorities as President, to promote and improve the participation of traditional rulers in the development process.

The Chiefs welcomed the idea, stating that the policy has earned Dr. Bawumia a lot of admiration and respect from traditional leaders.

"We have heard about your policy to partner with traditional authorities for national development by restoring some powers that have been taken away from Chiefs. This is a very good step and a well-thought-out policy.

"You have already done really well as a Vice President, but this policy adds to why we have confidence in you," Nana Ntori-Bonkyi Akomea said.

"We are an integral part of national development, so we want to encourage you not to hesitate on this policy."

Nana Ntori-Bonkyi Akomea commended President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia for their good works, especially in infrastructure development and Free SHS, and appealed to his people to reward them by voting for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP Parliamentary candidate in the area, to ensure sustainable development for the country and the community.
