The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, has said that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the best presidential material available to Ghana.

In a write-up, he said that Ghana is at a technological crossroads and that it needs a leader who has a vision for Ghana’s position in the current digital evolution and is willing to steer the country into a niche within the new evolution.

“As we all see it unfold before our eyes, Artificial intelligence is the next phase of the technological evolution, and we cannot afford to be left behind. This is why as things stand now, the vote in December 2024 will be a choice between progress and stagnation,” the Tema MCE wrote.

He added, “With AI being the future, the path of progress is digitalization and everybody knows that Dr. Bawumia is the chief proponent and champion of digitalization in Ghana.”

The statement he made to journalists in Tema on Thursday, June 6, 2024, and has since gone viral. It came in the wake of jolting revelations that the global Artificial Intelligence market value has soared to about US$ 1.8 trillion.

It also comes in the wake of Vice President Bawumia’s presidential campaign which has been pivoted on digitalization, a campaign that has earned the Vice President the nickname, “Mr. Digitalization,” especially among the country‘s youth.

As Yohane Amarh Ashitey points out, of all the candidates in the race for the presidency, it's only Dr. Bawumia who is promising that his government’s policies will be based on digitalization, something that will put Ghana in tune with the ongoing global technological evolution.

“All of Bawumia’s contestants are talking about things that are just not next level – former President John Mahama is talking about an amorphous 24-hour economy, and Alan Kyerematen is talking about building a financial hub. These things that these other contestants are proposing are things that we know we already have in some form. However, digitalization is a totally new concept that is also very relevant,” the MCE wrote.

The Tema Mayor said, “The unique, forward-looking outlook of Dr. Bawumia positions him as the best person to lead Ghana at this time of lightning-pace digital evolution in the world.”

“My hardworking chairman of Tema East NPP, Nene Ofoe Teye-chu Agbadiagba IV has always said that brilliant Dr. Bawumia is a gift from God to Mother Ghana and I agree with Nene 100 percent.” Yohane Amarh Ashitey wrote.
