Thousands of supporters of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia were not deterred by the emergence of darkness, as they stayed on to give the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer a rousing welcome in Jinijini.

Dr. Bawumia, who is on a tour of the Bono Region, was scheduled to touch down at Jinijini, in the Berekum West Constituency around 7 pm, but packed activities and travels from one town to another ensured he arrived nearly at 11 pm. However, the massive crowd was unperturbed.

The NPP flagbearer started the packed day in Goka in the Jaman North Constituency, before finishing his tour of the constituency in Sampa.

From there, Dr. Bawumia moved to the Jaman South Constituency, where he had five different events, lasting many hours.

After a series of engagements, Dr. Bawumia had an electrifying community connection in the evening at Drobo. Thousands attended the event, and the programme was prolonged, leaving many to wait for Bawumia amidst excitement in Jinijini.

A huge number of supporters gathered at the Jinijini lorry station and in the township awaiting the arrival of Dr. Bawumia. When he did arrive, close to 11 pm, the crowd was set agog.

Also present were traditional rulers, including the Chief of Jinijini, who spoke passionately in appreciation of what the NPP has done for the area in terms of development through the district it created for them.

The Chief also threw his weight behind Dr. Bawumia's presidential bid, describing him as an "emerging star" for the youth of Ghana.

When Dr. Bawumia was introduced to speak, it was clearly the moment the crowd had been waiting for, for hours, as they gave him a thunderous cheer.

Dr. Bawumia responded with an expression of amazement in appreciation of the mammoth welcome.

He began his address by delivering a jab at former President Mahama, listing a number of ills of his erstwhile administration, including the number of benefits to Ghanaians he canceled, as well as his vehement opposition to Free SHS.

Having taken the crowd through several of his visions and policies, Dr. Bawumia again decided to end his address by giving his main opponent, former President Mahama, another jab.

He told the crowd he should be voted for because he will be more accountable to them than Mahama, as he will "come back and account and seek your mandate again," while the former President, he noted, "won't be accountable to anyone because he has only four years to serve and cannot seek re-election."

Dr. Bawumia ended his engagement at Jinijini almost at midnight.
