... Vice Chairman kisses canvas twice
It seems the New Patriotic Party (NPP) branch of the Kpone Katamanso constituency is gradually gaining notoriety when it comes to peacemaking and conflict resolution.

Just last Friday, the polling station executives in the party in the constituency held a meeting in which they warned the acting Greater Accra regional chairman of the party, Mr. R.O Solomon to stop interfering in their domestic affairs, which was published in yesterday?s edition of the paper.

Barely a day after that meeting, precisely last Saturday, two of the executive members of the party were engaged in a pugilistic exercise in the middle of an emergency meeting organized by the constituency chairman of the party.

The two executive members, namely Mr. Solomon Appiah, aka Solo ? 1st vice chairman, who was also the parliamentary candidate for the 2004 elections and Nii Armah ? youth organizer, were said to have exchanged words and subsequently, blows.

Eyewitnesses say the noise and shouting that emerged out of the office were so loud that a huge crowd was attracted and descended heavily on the premise of the party office located at Kpone in their numbers, shouting and cheering them on.

According to sources, at a point in a meeting of the executive members of the party to deliberate on how to conduct elections in the remaining eight polling stations, which had not as yet conducted their elections, Solo questioned Nii Armah as to how he who did not stay within the Service No. 2 polling station of the Michel Camp area, succeeded in getting elected as its polling station chairman.

We gathered that Nii Armah replied that he was voted the chairman for the area because he had his vote there.

We learnt further that the answer did not go down well with the second vice chairman and this precipitated a misunderstanding between them.

The eyewitnesses further said the two executive members started exchanging words of accusation and counter accusations and before one could say ?jack?, the two had flared into tantrums.

In the process, the eyewitnesses continued, Nii Armah landed a fast blow on the face of the second vice chairman, which sent him sprawling on the floor in the full glare of the constituency chairman.

They stated further that the first vice chairman, Abbam Tetteh tried separating them but unfortunately, the youthful Nii Armah was too slippery for him to handle, giving the youth organizer another opportunity to launch a second attack which also led the recuperating second vice chairman to re-visit the canvas for the second time.

According to the eyewitnesses, the situation was too embarrassing to the executives themselves and the party as a whole.

When contacted on phone yesterday, the constituency chairman refused to say whether there was a big fight or not; rather, he said there was a small misunderstanding, which had already been settled between the two executive members.

?As far as I am concerned, there was a small misunderstanding between two of my executive members, but as I speak with you now, the matter has been resolved in a peaceful atmosphere and everything is presently going on smoothly,? he indicated. Present at the meeting were Mr. Emmanuel Manyo-Plange ? Chairman, Mr. Joshua Abbam Tetteh ? First Vice Chairman, Mr. Solomon Appiah ? Second Vice Chairman, Mr. Dan Bonapart ? Secretary, Mr. Atuahene ? Deputy Secretary, Mr. John Tetteh ? Organizer and Nii Armah ? Youth Organizer.
