Kumasi, July 17, GNA- Mr Kusi Kwadwo Boachie, an aspiring parliamentary candidate for the Offinso South constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced his withdrawal from the contest.
At a press conference in Kumasi on Friday, Mr Boachie said his decision to withdraw from the primaries followed the advice of the National Steering Committee of the party in Accra last week.
He said after a careful thought on the advice, he had decided to withdraw his candidature in the interest of the party.
Mr Boachie explained that the NPP as a party, was supreme than any other individual in the party, adding that, "for the interest of the party, I withdraw honourably and lend my support to the incumbent MP". He appealed to his supporters not to despair but remain loyal to the party to ensure total victory in the 2004 elections.
Mr Boachie directed that any refund due him should be paid into the accounts of the Offinso South constituency of the party to assist in the campaign for the elections.
He also pledged to contribute 20 million cedis to support the constituency in the impending general elections. Mr Boachie appealed to the incumbent MP not to marginalize his supporters but strive to unite the party to enable him to perform better. 17 July 04
