The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communication Officers in the Bono Region have commenced an indefinite strike over what they describe as the illegal sale of heavy machinery, including tipper trucks, front loaders, and graders, by the Regional Coordinating Council.

At a press conference held in Sunyani May 27, 2024, the NPP communication officers disclosed that their repeated attempts to gather information regarding the auction of the heavy machinery have been ignored, leading to their decision to strike indefinitely.

The spokesperson, Abubakari Yakubu, stated that the equipment sold could have significantly improved the region's roads.

Consequently, they will continue their strike and refrain from returning to the studios until the government reveals who purchased the equipment and the reasons behind the controversial sale.

"The Bono Regional Coordinating Council clandestinely auctioned off vital trucks, leaving us clueless about the buyers' identities and the motives for this questionable sale.

"In reaction, all 12 communication officers in the region have come together to demand accountability and transparency from the Council.

"We are seeking answers to two pivotal questions: Who authorized the auction, and why were the trucks sold rather than being used by the assemblies for critical tasks such as road maintenance? We will maintain our strike until we receive satisfactory answers," he declared.
