Mr Daniel Bugri Naabu, the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic party (NPP), has called on members to close their ranks and work hard to attract more people to the party.

He said unity and mutual understanding among members were some of the ingredients needed to galvanize support and to make the party more attractive to floating voters to ensure a one round victory for NPP in 2016.

Mr Naabu said this in Tamale on Thursday when he inaugurated members of the Northern Regional Council of Elders, constituted to offer guidance and counseling on how to wrestle power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He appealed to the Council to ensure good candidates contested parliamentary seats in the Region saying, “We cannot afford to lose the 2016 elections and I am appealing to you to use your wise counsel to recruit good parliamentary candidates among other good strategies for the party”.

He claimed that majority of Ghanaians were crying for the NPP to come back to power since economic conditions under the NDC were harsh and added that if the NPP failed to win in 2016, it would be almost impossible for it to win in the year 2020.

He said the party was targeting to win 25 parliamentary seats in the Northern Region out of the 31 while the number in Presidential votes would also be increased to give the party a convincing win.

Mr Naabu said hard work and serious vigilance at the polling stations were needed to ensure winning power since NPP was the only alternative to the NDC.
