Attibrukusu elected President of WR House of Chiefs

Sekondi, Sept 28, GNA - Awulae Attibrukusu III, Omanhene of Lower Axim Traditional area, was on Tuesday elected President of the Western Region House of Chiefs.

He polled ten votes as against eight by Awulae Annor Adjaye III, Omanhene of Western Nzema Traditional area.

Nana Nkoa Okumdom II, Omanhene of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional area, was elected unopposed as the Vice-President.

Five other members including Awulae Attibrukusu, Odeneho Gyapong Ababio II, Omanhene of Sefwi Bekwai, Osagyefo Kwamina Ennimil VI, Omanhene of Wassa Fiase, Nana Nkoa Okumdom II, Omanhene of Sefwi Wiawso, Nana Atta Kwesi Brembi II, Omanhene of Dadieso, were elected to represent the House at the National House of Chiefs.

Speaking after the election, Awulae Attibrukusu reminded the members that they must protect the image and noble character of the chieftaincy institution and gave the assurance of his determination and readiness to offer dedicated, and selfless service to the house, adding that, the new administration would be guided by the tenets of good governance and transparency.

Awulae Attibrukusu advised members not to allow themselves, to be divided or to cooperate with those who are hostile to matters of peace, unity and good governance.

He stressed the need for peace and said, "We need real unity founded on justice and truth that would bring joy and satisfaction". The out-going President, Kasapreko Kwame Bassayin III, Omanhene of Wassa Amenfi Traditional area thanked members for their cooperation during his tenure and called on members to unite to bring positive change to the institution in the Region.
