Ladies and Gentlemen of the media, fellow Ghanaians, many in our country today are talking about a third force to counter the NPP and NDC for the sake of our democracy. Many have simply lost confidence in the path that the country has followed over the last 40 years.
It is in the interest of our democracy therefore that the media and the country generally should be aware of the great strides the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has made and is making to ensure that the country has that alternative and to make it the political juggernaut that it once was.
In recent months the CPP has drawn up a new organizational programme which has brought much hope to the rank and file of the Party.
The document has become known in CPP circles simply as “The Blueprint” and deals with Party organization at National, Regional, Constituency, Electoral Area/Ward and Polling Station.
The aims behind the document are very clear:
? establishing a clearly recognised set of objectives;
? providing a structured framework for organizational activities;
? assessing performance against agreed criteria;
? evaluating achievements and undertaking self and external assessments;
? helping key Party functionaries and organs to know what is expected of them and how to carry out specific tasks to achieve the Party’s objectives;
? providing a common focus for organizational activity;
? targeting resources to achieve maximum benefits for the Party.
Whilst most minds had turned to Christmas and the festive season the CPP was focused on organization and thus over a period of less than a month it held a National Workshop in Ho, Volta Region on the 16th December 2007 to roll out “The Blue Print” to Party functionaries from across the country, and has had another workshop in Tamale, Northern Region two weeks ago to for Party activists from the Upper East, Upper West and Northern Region , in a further and ongoing educational process on the Organizational Programme of the Party.
The Party has also moved to reduce its team of 30 Spokespersons to10, announcing the following at Ho on the 16th:-
Mr. Robert Woode – Economy, Science and Technology
Dr Adam Nasser – Youth, Education and Sports
Dr Thomas Aidoo – Local Government
Mr. Michael Nunoo – Governance
Dr T.N. Osei – National Infrastructure
Mr Kwesi Pratt Jnr. – Media and Communications
Further names are expected to be announced soon.
The party has also published its programme to mobilise structures at Polling Station level and to renew the mandate of Party Executives from Ward, Constituency and Regional branches, leading to the election of National Officers and a Flagbearer in August 2007.
Media Houses are welcome to contact the various spokespersons via the National Headquarters to comment on issues relating to their sectors.
Fellow Ghanaians the time has come for all to join the CPP effort to provide Ghana with a clear alternative to the NPP and NDC, in the interest of our democracy and for the future of our beloved nation.
