Kumawu (Ash), Nov. 25, GNA - Mr Kofi Adu Poku, Convention People's Party (CPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Kumawu, has stated that his priority would be education when elected to Parliament. In pursuance of this policy, therefore, he said he had instituted a scholarship scheme for 30 brilliant but needy pupils from deprived communities.
In addition, Mr Poku said he was paying a teacher from his own resources to reopen the Wenamda Primary School near Drobonso, which had been closed down.
Speaking at a rally at Kumawu at the weekend where he was introduced to the people, Mr Poku said he would also institute the Member of Parliament's fund for teachers when given the mandate. He said he would provide libraries at Bira-Onwam and Kumawu and raise the Dadease Agricultural College into a fully pledged agricultural institution.
Introducing the Parliamentary Candidate earlier, Mr Kwabena Annim, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the CPP, called on the electorate to vote for the Party's Presidential and Parliamentary Candidates to enable the Party to revisit the good works of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, the First President of Ghana.
Mr Andrew Kofi Asamoah Akoto, CPP Parliamentary Candidate for Old Tafo, said the Party abhorred ethnicity and would not trade in insults adding that it was a peaceful Party with no political enemies. He entreated the electorate to vote massively for the CPP in the December elections.
