THE CONVENTION PEOPLE’S PARTY TO “TAKE” THE CENTRAL REGION WITH A REGIONAL RALLY IN CAPE COAST ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18TH

The CPP Flagbearer Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom will lead a contingent of CPP leading members – National Executive Members, Presidential Aspirants, Central Committee Members, Parliamentary Candidates and Regional Executives to storm the Central Region on Saturday, October 18th. The rally will take place at the Cape Coast Chapel Square. It will be preceded by a procession of CPP supporters through the principal streets of Cape Coast starting at 11.00 am with the rally to begin by 1.00 pm. The rally will be broadcast live on most radio stations in the Central and Western Regions including Spark FM in Dunkwa, Space FM in Tarkwa, Ankobra FM in Axim, Ahomka FM in Elmina and others. Arrangements are being made for live TV broadcast on TV Africa and other stations.

It will be recalled that Dr. Nduom has taken the “Edwumawura” campaign to every constituency in the Central Region a number of times. The Nduom Presidential Campaign team has been greeted with “Adze Papa Wo Fie A Oye”. Dr. Nduom has been asking the people in the region to consider that he is the best candidate in the race for the Presidency this year and vote for him, stressing that he is the best and not just a native son of the region. Dr. Nduom is determined to lead the CPP to win a majority in the Central Region for the party this year. He is confident that the CPP will win at least ten parliamentary seats in the Central Region. The speakers at the rally will stress that job creation is the main issue facing the region. Therefore, “Edwumawura” must be given the opportunity to come and lead the nation with his job creation strategies so that the people in the region can also benefit. The region has tourism, farming and fishing opportunities that have been neglected. With the many educational institutions sited there, the Central Region could easily become a technology center for the country.

The CPP will continue to hammer on the point that the Central Region should not be as poor as it is. The region has lost several thousands of jobs due to the closing down of the Saltpond Ceramic factory, numerous brick factories, the sugar factory in Komenda, a bamboo products factory, many state farms that today would be major large scale farms and many others. They will emphasize the point that the fishing industry has been left without serious government attention by the NPP and the NDC and thus has resulted in making hard working fishermen poor.
