Ho, Oct. 16, GNA - Mr Kosi Dedey, an aspiring General Secretary of the Convention People's Party (CPP), on Tuesday called on the leadership of the party to submit a list of congress delegates to all official candidates at least two weeks to the party's congress.
This would enable candidates to verify the identities of the delegates and ensure fair play during the congress, he told journalists at Ho. "We must ensure that in as much as practically possible, all processes towards congress are transparent and fair." Mr Dedey said the ground rules must be open and adequate provisions made for all delegates "such that some candidates are not seen as hijacking delegates".
"All CPP members must be encouraged to accept the decision of congress and rally behind all elected persons after congress", he said. Mr Dedey said he had reviewed the party's organizational structure and systems and found out that "a key weakness is the lack of clear lines of responsibility for elected or appointed officers". "I have also prepared a comprehensive audit form to enable the national secretariat to audit its structures nationwide and determine the party's structure at a glance", he said.
Mr Dedey said he would submit a performance measurement criteria to the leadership "in line with my objective of ensuring that the party becomes result oriented" if elected General Secretary of the party. "The CPP has made history, now let us make progress by electing for ourselves a new sincere, consistent and committed leadership that will change the way we do things for the better", Mr Dedey said. 16 Oct 07
