Central Region records high challenge cases in recent Biometric Registration

The Upper Denkyira East District in the Central Region recorded the highest challenge cases of 415 in the recent Biometric Voter Registration conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC).

A total of 1,235 challenge cases, bordering on the registration of minors and aliens, were recorded in the Region with Kasoa recording no challenge case.

Information available to the GNA in Cape Coast revealed that, Gomoa West recorded 205 challenge cases with Assin North recording 106 cases.

Mfantseman had 94 cases whiles Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem recorded 64 cases with Cape Coast registering 50 cases.

Forty-eight challenge cases were recorded in Effutu District, 45 in Ajumako- Enyan-Essiam, 43 in Ekumfi with Upper Denkyira West recording 36 cases.

Hemang Lower Denkyira recorded 33 cases whiles Twifo Atti Morkwa registered 25 cases with Gomoa East recording 21, Assin South 14, with Agona East recording 11 cases.

The Abura -Asebu-Kwamankese and Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa recorded nine cases each, whiles Awutu -Senya had four with Agona West recording three cases and Kasoa recording no challenge case.

Provisional results indicate that the Central Region registered a total of 1,222,618 eligible voters as against a projected figure of 1,186,274, with Cape Coast recording the highest of 104,899, against a projected figure of 114,633 and Ekumfi registering the lowest of 32,014 against 29,035 projection.**
