Change the MP of the area - Chiana-Paga NDC Branch

Chiana (UE), March. 5, GNA- The Chiana Paga Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region including some Assembly members have pledged their unflinching support for Mr Rudolf Amenga-Etego, an Aspiring Member of Parliament (MP) for the area.

They told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at a branch delegate meeting held in Chiana on Tuesday, that most of them wanted a change of MP, and wanted someone who is capable of bringing a lot of innovative projects to the area to help promote the well of the society. They alleged that the incumbent MP, Mr Abuga Pele, who had been an MP for a period of 12 years, was biased in selecting development projects, which they noted was not in the interest of the people. "The incumbent MP had done his part and must therefore step down to pave the way for others, who were imbued with innovative developmental agenda to continue the race", the delegates emphasized.

The Delegates noted that Mr Amenga-Etego, a Barrister and also a human rights activist had played significant roles in National Development. He spearheaded the fight against the privatization of Water in Ghana and could do better for the constituency and the nation as a whole when given the nod as an MP for the area.

They explained that as one of the leading members of ISODEC, an NGO fighting in the area of the promotion of human rights and encouraging local participation in local governance, he had empowered a lot of people in the participation of governance. He had also served as an Assembly member in his constituency for the past two years and brought a lot of developmental projects including Nutrition and Health centres among others to the area. In every academic year he sponsors about 22 female students who excel well to Senior High Schools as part of his ideology in bridging the gap of the Girl-Child Education. The delegates and the Assembly members described the aspirant as somebody who was credible, a unifier, humble, dedicated and committed to the execution of duties and could turn the fortune of the constituency around to help improve the living standard of the people. About seventy branch delegates and eight assembly members included party supporters attended the delegates meeting. Also at the function were Alhaji Baba Alhassan, NDC Navrongo Central Constituency Chairman, Mr. Ben Akare, NDC Zonal Secretary for Chiana -Paga West Zone and Mr. Bantiu Peter, a former NDC Constituency Chairman for Chiana-Paga and other leading members of the Party
