Naional Youth Organiser of the People's National Convention (PNC) Abu Ramamdan has indicated that the decision by the Supreme Court to televise live, the election petition is exciting Ghanaians more than a World Cup game would.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Friday, Abu Ramadan observed Ghanaians have shown a strong interest in the ongoing petition, signifying the Supreme Court made a good move to drop its earlier stance not to allow a live telecast of proceedings.
He however, cautioned commentators from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP), to avoid hasty comments about how the outcome of the case will be.
In his view, the case is now taking shape and so it would be premature to start predicting how things will pan out.
His worry was how party stalwarts like Johnson Asiedu Nketia and Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie (Sir John), General Secretaries for NDC and NPP respectively, "rush to the media to make false, and sometimes unsavoury comments" about proceedings in court.
He advised the media to stay clear off them. In his view, Lawyers Ato Dadzie and Gloria Akuffo are the official spokespersons for the two main legal teams, and hence media people had no business talking to the party scribes.
He said it is very important for civil society organisations to begin a campaign to prepare Ghanaians on the possible outcomes of the election petition.
