The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to creating more jobs to address unemployment.
According to him, the current government has created 2.3 million more jobs than any previous administration.
Speaking at the party’s manifesto launch on Sunday, August 18, 2024, Dr. Bawumia addressed the party members, stating, “We are equally dedicated to generating more job opportunities to significantly decrease youth unemployment, which has risen to over 5 million in the last 8 years alone.
He continued, “We have already created 2.3 million jobs, the most of any government in the 4th republic, but youth unemployment remains a pressing issue. We are committed to doing even more.”
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of voting for the NPP government for continuity rather than choosing the opposition.
“It is better to continue with a party that has created more jobs than any other in the 4th republic, rather than return to a party and a leader who, after 4 years of dumsor, resulted in more unemployment than any other government in the 4th republic,” he stressed.
Dr. Bawumia also assured Ghanaians of the government’s dedication to reducing the cost of living, which has pushed many households into poverty.
“Many economists and analysts have correctly pointed out that Ghana has turned a corner, but we acknowledge that for many families, the cost of living is still very high. The hardship is real, and we are committed to doing more to alleviate the challenges faced by Ghanaians.”
The party’s manifesto launch is currently taking place at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) in Takoradi, the Western Regional capital.
