The Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah, has strongly criticised Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, for comparing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's achievements to those of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

In a Facebook post, he described the act as insulting and grossly misguided.

According to him, NAPO's attempt to draw parallels between Nana Addo and Dr. Nkrumah is a disrespectful affront to the legacy of Ghana's founding father.

"Dr. Nkrumah's unparalleled contributions to Ghana's independence and development are undeniable, and any comparison with Nana Addo is unjust and illogical. Dr. Nkrumah's vision, leadership, and achievements remain unmatched in Ghana's history," he said in his post on Facebook.

Emphasising Dr. Nkrumah's legacy and accomplishments across all regions of Ghana, he pointed out that even NAPO's own Ashanti region has greatly benefited from Nkrumah's initiatives.

"In the Ashanti region, Dr. Nkrumah's achievements include the establishment of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, a leading medical facility in West Africa, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, a prestigious Ghanaian university, the expansion of the Kumasi Central Market, and the development of the regional road network, including the construction of the Kumasi-Accra Highway, which significantly enhanced transportation and connectivity. Additionally, Nkrumah established the Kumasi Shoe Factory and Kumasi Jute Factory," he added.

Dr. Armah further highlighted Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's national achievements, including the introduction of free and compulsory primary education and the establishment of renowned universities such as the University of Ghana and the University of Cape Coast.

During his unveiling as the running mate of the New Patriotic Party’s Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in Kumasi on Tuesday, NAPO asserted that no president, including the revered Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has developed Ghana like President Akufo-Addo.

“Since independence from 1957 till today, we’ve not had any president that has helped Ghana like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I say from 1957 till today, you can bring your Kwame Nkrumah... no president who has protected Ghana and moved the country forward like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” he explained.

The former Minister of Energy has since been bombarded with criticisms for his comments since he made them.
