Concerned Members Of Ablekuma Central Ndc Call For Fresh Elections

Some aggrieved supporters of the NDC in the Ablekuma Central constituency have described the recent constituency elections as flawed and undemocratic and appealed to the Regional and National Executives of the party to declare the elections null and void and hold fresh elections.

Addressing a press conference last Tuesday, the spokesperson of the concerned NDC members, Mr. Ahmed B. Said condemned the former executives of clandestinely bringing delegates who did not reside in the constituency to vote for them. According to the group, the delegate lists was not made available to any of the contestants perceived as a threat to the old executive.

The elections which were held last Saturday, 5th November, 2005, at Sukula was supervised by Flt. Lt. Tackie and a host of the party?s Regional Executives.

Present at the press briefing were O.K Adjabeng who aspired for the position of Constituency Chairman , Halidu Haruna, who vied for the position of Youth Organizer and Isha Mensa who contested for Women Organizer among others.

The concerned group described the retained chairman Mr. Adisah and his executives of exhibiting double standards which does not augur well for the party. ?Since they had the ability to get a vote recount in favour of their favorite women organizer Mad. Kumi Ali, why could they not ask for the recount of the 2004 Parliamentary results, when it was clear that the NDC parliamentary candidate had won,? the group asked. The spokesman explained that the old executives most of whom were retained after the disputed elections did not ask for a recount because it was not in their interest?.

According to the group, since the executives are there primarily to serve their own parochial interest, they do not merit to be leading the party in the constituency. They added that their continuous stay in office will only further dampen the high spirit of the members in the constituency and eventually cause the doom of the party in the area.

?Mr. Adisah?s position as Chairman for two consecutive terms in the constituency has brought nothing but division, acrimony and failure,? they charged, urging the Regional and National executives of the party to give their petition all the serious attention it deserves.

Mr. Ahmed B. Said, the spokesman, pointed out at that the last 2004 parliamentary elections was clearly won by the NDC candidate but the decision was overturned in favorer of the NPP candidate. Though they as concerned members did everything within their means to correct the anomaly, it could not yield any results because their own executives led Mr. Adisah, actively sabotaged the NDC candidate.

In an interview with the lens, O.K. Adjabeng, said that the constituency was in the wilderness and called on top brass of the party to salvage it ?as early as possible?. He said any one who has the NDC at heart should take the matter seriously in order to curb any further division in the constituency
