Koforidua, June 21, GNA - The New Juaben North Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has petition the national executive of the party to call the Eastern Regional Chairman, Dr Samuel Annor to order or face the wrath of party supporters in the area.

They also appealed to the national executive as a matter of urgency to compelled Dr Annor to withdraw a letter purported to have been written by him on June 11, 2010 to the constituency chairman nullifying all elections within the constituency with immediate effect.

This was contained in a petition signed by the New Juaben North Constituency Chairman, Nana Adjei Boateng, who led a placard bearing demonstrators to present the petition to the Eastern Regional Second Vice Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bodinga on Monday.

According to the ten-point petition, Dr Annor wrote the letter to the constituency chairman to the effect that the regional steering committee at its meeting on June 11, 2010 decided that the polling station, electoral area and constituency elections held last year had been nullified. It also said that the constituency would be run by regional officers and a time table for the selections would be conveyed to them shortly by the regional officers.

The petition added that when the constituency executive received the letter, they crossed check from the regional executive, but it came out that no such decision had ever been taken at a meeting of the officers. The petitioners accused Dr Annor of pursuing a course of action to destabilize the constituency in furtherance of his ambition to become the parliamentary candidate for the constituency.

The Regional first Vice Chairman of the party, who received the petition, promised to forward it to the national executive for the necessary action to be taken.

He confirmed to journalists that no decision had been taken by the regional executive to nullify any elections and that the regional executive had nothing to do with the said letter written by Dr Annor. Dr Annor in a telephone interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) confirmed writing the letter to the constituency chairman and that he still stand by the letter and its content.

He said all the elections held last year within the constituency, were full of irregularities and accused the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Hackman Owusu Agyemang, for championing that course. 21 June 10
