Deputy Communications Director for the Convention People's Party [CPP], Benjamin Nsiah, says President Akufo-Addo’s bold declaration on Sunday evening, as part of measures to stop the spread of coronavirus in the country, means there is more to it than meets the eye.

According to him, for the President to "suspend all public gatherings including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, sporting events and religious events such as services in churches and mosques for the next four weeks," and also "close down all Universities, Senior High Schools and basic schools (i.e private and public) from Monday, 16th of March, 2020 till further notice," depicts that "there is something public health specialist or health experts are hiding" from us.

“It's either public health specialists or health experts are not educating us well or are hiding some information from us which will have economic implications on the country because the measures taken by President Akufo-Addo to curb the COVID-19 appear a little too stringent and overboard," he added

Explaining further on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ discussion segment, Mr. Nsiah sought to know “what other measures are being put in place to curb the disease from spreading since no health personal has been trained yet, neither have they been provided with personal protective equipment after Sunday evening's directive from the president”.

To him, “the outbreak of COVID-19 is an indication that the Ghanaian economy needs to start producing or manufacturing products more and stop depending on foreign countries for even our primary needs”.
