Independent parliamentary aspirant for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, widely known as A Plus, has alleged that assassination attempts have been made against the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.

A Plus made these claims while rebutting President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s assertion that his government has done more in the fight against corruption than any other government, in an interview with Abeiku Santana.

He said that while it might be true that the Akufo-Addo government has spent more money in the fight against corruption, there is nothing to show for it, and the menace has now even become worse.

He added the first Special Prosecutor appointed by Akufo-Addo to fight corruption, Martin Amidu, said the president is corrupt and his successor, Kissi Agyebeng, has come under various attacks, including assassination attempts, by proponents of the government just for doing his job.

“The first Special Prosecutor they appointed said Akufo-Addo is the ‘mother serpent of corruption’. That is what Martin Amidu, whom he (Akufo-Addo) used our money to appoint as Special Prosecutor to fight corruption, said.

“After he removed Amidu, he brought Kissi Agyebeng, and he (Kissi Agyebeng) is my friend, and I know what he is going through... If I have to tell you what Kissi Agyebeng has gone through to still be here as Special Prosecutor, They wish that they would take him out, and I have every piece of information on that,” he said.

He added, “These guys have gone after him and tried to prevent him from doing his job. They have come out with so many lies, finding ways just to get rid of him. They have even tried to assassinate him. I don’t think that these guys are bent on fighting corruption. Under corruption itself, it is them. When I say they, I mean people in their government.”
