Kumasi, Dec. 19, GNA - The Kumasi Metropolitan Co-ordinating Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has observed that the credible performance of the party at the recently held general elections, was ample evidence that the party was strong and not weakened, nor disintegrating as being peddled by some political opponents.

Mr. Alex Sawyer Attivor, the NDC Metro Co-ordinating Committee chairman, said the performance had rather gone to affirm that the NDC was fully alive, functional and above all, a political force to reckon with.

Mr. Attivor made the observation at a meeting held by the Kumasi Metropolitan Co-ordinating Committee of the NDC in Kumasi, at the weekend, to asses their performance in the polls and also congratulate and commend the electorate for their positive contribution to the NDC's credible performance in the elections.

The Metro Co-ordinating Committee, which is made up of all constituency Executives of the NDC in the Kumasi Metropolis, also used the forum to commend the NDC Parliamentary Candidates both winners and losers for their sacrifice and boldness in contesting the parliamentary seats, as well as the party Agents for their vigilance during the polls. The Committee, specifically mentioned Dr. Adamu Gibiril, Member of Parliament (MP)-Elect for Asawasi, for bringing honour and dignity to bear on the party by fighting relentlessly to win the Asawasi seat. Mr. Attivor said though the NDC lost the elections, they fought a good battle, bringing shock and surprise to most Ghanaians, especially the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He stressed that their high performance at the polls should be enough signals to the NPP and the other parties that victory awaits the NDC, come 2008.

Mr. B.A. Mohammed, organiser of the Kumasi Metropolitan Co-ordinating Committee of the NDC, advised the electorate not to expect too much from the NDC MPS since they were in the opposition camp. He said instead, they should unite and co-operate with them by way of offering them constructive suggestions and ideas so that, collectively they could enhance development of the constituencies.
