Mr. Moses Dramani Luri, the Sissala West District Chief Executive, has said he had no intention to contest his Member of Parliament in the forthcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries.
He described media reports of his intention to contest his MP, Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, the Upper West Regional Minister, as false and calculated to mar the peace, unity and the development effort of the district.
Mr. Luri told the GNA in an interview that the NDC was united in the district and would continue to remain so to propel the development of the District.
“I am not by any way indicating that I am incompetent in becoming an MP. I will however like to become an MP at a time that all and sundry including my MP are willing and ready to support me in that direction”, he said.
Mr Luri said he was content with the assignment given him by the President and that he could only show appreciation by working hard to propel the development of the district while ensuring that the party won both the presidential and parliamentary elections in the district in 2016.
He said he appreciated the role the MP played during his appointment period and continued to play and thanked the NDC executives, both at the constituency and regional levels as well as chiefs for giving him the opportunity and support to serve.
Mr Luri said what he needed now was cooperation, peace, unity and harmony to propel the development of the district such that there would be good sanitation, good health, good water and good food for all.
“I therefore call on all my admirers and supporters to remain calm for there is time for everything thing”, he said.
