NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY (NPP) delegates from Brong Ahafo (B/A) Region have two strong and affable candidates vying for two major positions as National Chairman and National Organizer of their party, Mr. Stephen Ayensu Ntim, the incumbent 1st vice chairman of the party and Alhaji Moctar Musah Bamba, a former deputy minister of Presidential affairs, who was forced out of his position, having involved himself in series of scandals unearthed by The Chronicle.
But it is instructive that both gentlemen, who would be hoping to have upper hand from their home region, have instead been given a massive thumbs down.
A Chronicle survey in the region indicates that both Mr. Ntim and Alhaji Bamba were going to lose about 60% and 80% respectively.
What some delegates from the B/A are saying is this: "We shall teach them a lesson".
Our survey revealed that Mr. Mac Manu, a former chairman of the Western Regional branch of the NPP and a businessman, Lord Commey, the incumbent National Organizer and currently seeking re-election and Nana Ohene Ntow, a government spokesman on finance vying for the position of General Secretary were likely to snatch more votes from the region, which was recently believed to be falling into the hands of the National Democratic Congress.
Another candidate in the race of National 1st vice Chairman who may split the BA votes with his opponents Abdul-Rahaman Musah, Agnes Adzovi Akudzeto among others, was Madam Hawa Yakubu, who, according to the investigations, may have 50% votes, following the hardworking of her campaign team led by Mr. Kofi Darko, B/A regional Organizer and Mr. Yaw Addai Owusu, B/A regional Financial Secretary, who were coincidently also the campaign team members of Mac Manu and Lord Commey.
Our investigations revealed that Mr. Ntim, a computer specialist, despite his donation of Opel saloon caravan to the NPP regional office and other regions in the country, has no respect for the NPP leadership in the B/A.
The donation of the vehicle, according them, was not meant as an enticement to vote for him, but only because he is a member of the party.
Ntim, as gathered by The Chronicle is cited as one of the few national executives, who had made the NPP perform dismally in the B/A Region.
They are saying that voting for Mr. Ntim would simply mean that they were voting for NPP's defeat in 2008, simply because he could not help the B/A NPP to win in the region.
This was how they put it, "Charity begins at home", if he was a strong candidate enough, he could have supported his region to win in the last general elections."
On Bamba, they described him as a leopard whose spots can never be erased. "Alhaji Bamba has a lot of stuff on him, and this we believe would be haunting him, wherever he goes," they said, adding, "We want an executive with clean records and not a doubtful one." According to some of the delegates, the disgrace that was brought to the region by Alhaji Bamba, when the issue of forging the President's signature to contract a loan, and of late the issue of mishandling of government auctions were enough to let Bamba end his political career.
