Bugri Naabu's vehicle was towed away from the stadium after the elections
Defeated Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu has finally moved his mangled vehicle from the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium which was the venue for the Regional Delegates Conference after it failed to serve its intended purpose.
MyNewsGH.com reporters in the region spotted a private towing vehicle moving the V8 Totoya Landcruiser away although it is unclear where its next destination will be in the wake of claims police are yet to conclude investigations into the actual cause of the near-fatal accident.
The vehicle was towed to the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium to diffuse widespread claims he faked the incident in order to garner sympathy votes.
MyNewsGH.com’s reporters on Saturday spotted the vehicle being towed on a Zoomlion vehicle to the stadium which happened the venue for the Northern Regional Congress to elect a new set of leaders to steer the affairs of the party in the region for the next four years.
Mr Bugri Naabu was reportedly returning to Tamale after a political campaign at Sawla and Bole, to seek re-election in the upcoming regional executives’ elections on yesterday when his car crashed at Larabanga near Damongo in the West Gonja District.
The car reportedly somersaulted several times.
The main reason for the presence of the vehicle according to grapevine sources was to court sympathy votes but this backfired at the close of polls as the outspoken NPP executive was humiliated with 312 votes as against 116.
