Delle asked to resign

MEMBERS of the Council of Elders of the Convention People?s Party (CPP) are to advise Dr Edmund Delle, National Chairman of the party, to resign, honourably, or get sacked.

According to a source it would be in the interest of Dr Delle to step down, since he is very much aware of what might have prompted the move.

Asked whether the action is being taken against Dr Delle?s refusal to join the on-going anti-fuel price demonstration, the source said the decision had been taken long before the fuel hikes.

The issue rather had to do with Dr Delle?s "activities" before during and after recent general elections, the source said.

Meanwhile, reports "on the ground" indicate that the rank and file, with the exception of a few turn-coats, have lost confidence in the leadership of Dr Delle, who has now almost assumed the role of an NPP propaganda secretary.

The Chairman?s misguided statement on the current demonstrations in the country, could only be cited as one of his "new role".

Earlier, there had been rumours that Dr Delle had sought for and been promised an ambassadorial post.

However, an investigation into that case, is yet to produce a concrete proof. What remains open is his "suspicious" utterances, of late, including that of lending his support to the CPP-NPP secret election pacts in some constituencies.

CPP "purists", would have loved to have even won no seat, without the alliance with the NPP, rather than forging a pact, with the NPP, in constituencies, where the CPP, on its own could have won.
