The Department of Urban Roads (DUR) has honoured Mr Daniel Amartey Mensah, out-going Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) for his immense contribution to the Department.

Mr Mensah, the first MCE to be honoured by DUR, received a plaque with an accompanying citation, signed by Dr Daniel Darku, Chief Director of the Ministry of Roads and Highways.

Mr Akwasi Nuamah, Deputy Director at the Ministry in-charge of Planning and Development, presented the plague to him at the office of LEKMA in Teshie-Nungua on Thursday.

The DUR noted with satisfaction that as MCE, Mr Mensah assisted the Roads Unit of LEKMA to acquire a grader that facilitated road construction works of the Municipality.

The Department noted further that the MCE's acquisition of a total station for survey work for the Roads Unit, helped in getting most of the roads within the Municipality designed before construction.

Again, he was commended for not only providing a state of the art laboratory equipment to assist the Unit in quality compliance, but also for releasing funds to execute the Assembly’s road works.

The citation noted that the out-going MCE’s managerial style and opened door policy made him accessible to the staff of the Unit, which consequently eliminated delays in endorsing certificates due for payments.

It commended Mr Mensah for his modest contribution towards the widening of the La-Teshie Beach Road Project, through advocacy, support, whenever the need arose, presence at the site meetings and addressing the contractor's challenges.

It said this had assisted the Assembly in getting the project to its final stages.

The DUR described the out-going MCE “as a great leader and an MCE extraordinaire.”
