Diaso (C/R), Feb. 26, GNA - The chiefs and elders of Diaso in the newly created Upper Denkyira West District, have appealed to President John A Kufuor to nominate Mr Richard Anane Adabor, the Upper Denkyira District Chief Executive (DCE) as the DCE for the new District. According to them, Mr Adabor has proved to be a development oriented DCE and that his nomination for the new district would facilitate the achievement of the government's rural development objectives.

The chiefs and elders pointed out that their appeal followed wild speculation in the area of his nomination by the President against which some people were alleged to have started moves to protest.

Sources have it that Messrs J K Wadie, Upper Denkyira West constituency vice chairman of the NPP and Moses Ayeh, NPP polling station chairman for Ayamfuri were allegedly soliciting support from polling station chairmen to present a petition to the President against Mr Adabor's nomination.

At a press conference at Diaso, Nana Agyaa Ameyaw II, Asenkyehene of Diaso stressed that the chiefs were in favour of Mr Adabor's nomination.

Nana Ameyaw flanked by Nana Tabiri Gyansu, Ntomhene and Benkumhene of Diaso, Nana Kyina, Diaso Abusuapanin, Samuel Opoku and Nana Yaw Nya both elders, noted that under the leadership of Mr Adabor as DCE for Upper Denkyira, the area had witnessed marked improvement in development and that would make him suitable for the new District. "We are convinced that with his vast experience, he can move the new district forward".

Nana Ameyaw described those allegedly going round to protest against Mr Adabor's nomination as "detractors who do not want Denkyiraman to develop".

Nana Tabiri Gyansu said Mr Adabor represented the rural folks and that he would be the ideal person to head the new district, which has Diaso as the District Capital.

"We will welcome the President's decision should he nominate Mr Adabor as DCE", he added. In another development, the Diaso constituency branch of Friends of Nana Akufo Addo (FONAA) has supported the appeal to the President by the chiefs to appoint Mr Adabor. They maintained that his leadership would further help strengthen the activities of the party in the area.
