Tema, Nov 23, GNA-Tema West Constituency Executives and Polling Station Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday appealed to the constituents to disregard the elections conducted to elect new Constituency Executives on Sunday, November 22.

In a statement issued by majority of Constituency and Polling Station Executives of the Party, and signed jointly by Dr. Martin Antwi and Mr. Henry Osei-Owusu, Second Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively, the constituents pointed out that the election was conducted with the disputed constituency album.

This, the statement said, contravened the laid down rules governing the elections of polling station executives, and which matter was before the Tema High Court.

The statement said a letter dated October 16, 2009, and signed by Mr. Peter Mac Manu, National Chairman of the NPP, with a copy attached to the statement, suspended all activities relating to the election of all party officers in the Tema West Constituency with immediate effect. For this reason, the statement made it clear that, the November 22 election in Tema West, was null and void. It, therefore, assured the rank and file of the party in the constituency, to remain calm "as we await the National Chairman's directives."

"Until then, all members of the party in the constituency are advised to disregard the elections," the statement concluded.
