A vociferous communicator of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region, Esther Nana Agyeman, has publicly downplayed the significance of the controversial ‘Agyapadie’ document, cautioning the opposition NDC to refrain from dragging Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia into the state capture narrative.

Defending Dr. Bawumia, Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, Esther Nana Agyeman contended, “If the book is true, it has nothing to do with Dr. Bawumia. His name is mentioned nowhere, nor did he write any part of the document.”

Esther Agyeman disclosed that she was first introduced to the document in 2015 and was well-acquainted with its contents, which purportedly detailed a strategy to elevate Ofori Panin’s status above that of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and to seize control of the party from the Asantes.

In an interview with Kojo Marfo on Abusua Nkommo at Abusua 96.5 FM, Agyeman dismissed the document's claims, stressing that none of the predicted events have come to pass. She recounted, “I heard about the Agyapadie book in 2015 and learned about its contents that same year. I didn’t believe it and passionately spoke against it.”

“The key points in the book were that the Akyems would make Ofori Panin greater than Otumfuo and that they would take the party from the hands of the Asantes. But none of these claims have come to pass.

Esther Nana Agyeman explained that all the polls conducted before the election were not in favor of Dr. Bawumia, but his dogged humility worked the magic for him on election day. She referenced a study conducted by research lecturers from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), which was in favor of Alan Kyerematen.

“When we were about to hold our primaries, Alan Kyerematen was the one leading. Research lecturers from TECH conducted a study that Prof. Addai Mensah is aware of; it was Hon. Alan who was leading. And at that time, why did they say ‘Akyems’ were taking the party to the north, the reason Alan is leading?” she questioned.

She argued, “Everything about the election changed because of how Dr. Bawumia conducted his campaign. I call it dogged humility; he was inviting everyone on board, but that’s not what Alan Kyerematen did.

“Dr. Bawumia campaigned in all 16 regions; Kennedy Agyapong campaigned in 14, and Alan campaigned in just 5,” she opined.
