Do not destroy the party - Adu-Yeboah

Gomoa Ankamu (C/R), Dec. 22, GNA – The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kweku Adu-Yeboah, has cautioned aspiring parliamentary candidates not to destroy the image of the party if they fail in their bid.

Mr Adu-Yeboah said parliamentary seats were not the preserve of any member and that those who aspired for it and did not succeed must not think of contesting the seat as an independent candidate.

“You will be destroying the party if you do that,” he said and added that if they destroyed the party today, they would not come and meet it tomorrow.

The Chairman was speaking at a get-together organised for the youth of the party at Gomoa Ankamu near Apam.

He admonished the youth not to feel ashamed to identify themselves with the party and urged them to defend the party when the need arose.

He appealed to youth to be extra vigilant on the day of the election to be able to check any fraudulent practice adding that he was confident NDC would win the 2012 elections with a wider margin but cautioned members against complacency which could derail their efforts.

He said President Mills was elected for a four-year term and that he was at liberty to perform his duties from the first day he was sworn into office to the day he handed over administration to a new government so detractors of the government should stop describing projects initiated in the election year as “campaign projects”.

Mr Bernard Allotey-Jacobs, Regional Propaganda Secretary, said the International Monetary Fund had cleared the government to access the three billion Chinese loan adding that majority of the loan would go into the development of the Eastern and Western corridors and it would open-up the Central Region as well.

Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, Gomoa West District Chief Executive, advised supporters of the party to help advertise the achievements of the government.

He said the government had done enough and if they were well advertised it would make the party’s campaign very easy.

Mr Aidoo-Mensah appealed to Ghanaians to exercise patience whiles the government delivers on its promises.
