Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has advised Ghanaians not to fall for the tricks of politicians.

With this year being an election year, some presidential aspirants have set their campaigns in motion.

Primarily, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, and John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), are on campaign tours canvassing Ghanaians to vote for them.

In line with this, former President John Mahama, on Monday, August 12, launched the Youth Manifesto of his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and made promises to Ghanaians.

Mr. Mahama stated, among other things, that if elected President again, he would establish a free tertiary education system, make student loans more accessible, and streamline the free SHS policy of the incumbent government by abolishing the double-track system.

Allotey Jacobs, commenting during Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, took Mahama's promises with a pinch of salt.

He doubted Mahama's commitment to implement these policies, hence cautioning Ghanaians not to allow themselves to be used by politicians.

"Politicians look at us as being gullible to the extent that we have to accept anything and everything even when the thing is unrealistic," he stated.
